Modular construction on a steep Karori site

Key Services

An interesting project on which our structural engineers worked with Poneke Architects on the feasibility study and design of a 9-unit apartment development in Karori using modular elements in its construction. The site had only 4-5 metres of flat land with the remainder on a steep bank with a consistent 40-degree slope and the project used modular elements in its construction

  • Liaised with project geotechnical engineer to develop economical foundation and retaining solution and construction methodology.
  • Prepared design features report for feasibility study.
  • Supplied structural input on project concept designs indicating structural form, pile locations and foundation solution.
  • Completed preliminary, developed, and detailed structural design and CAD drawings for the proposed structural elements and structural details.
  • Compiled design calculations, technical specifications, producer statement and drawings as
  • part of the Building Consent application.
  • Construction monitoring up to practical completion and PS4 for the works, as observed on site.
