The project is the new flagship store for the Global fashion retailer H&M in the Commercial Bay development on Auckland’s Waterfront. The new store features over 3500m2 of retail floor space spread over four levels. We were engaged by the client to work closely with the interior design architect and the contractor to deliver this challenging project on an extremely tight programme – from Building Consent to construction and completion. Our service included a broad range of components where structural input is needed, these include the design of structure for the feature items such as the internal staircase and the “Rain of Lights” chandelier, various types of balustrades, glazing beams and seismic restraint of suspended ceiling and building services.
The key services provided are:
- Detailed structural design of various structural elements – staircases, openings, hanging features, and seismic restraint of building services.
- Design documentation, collaboration with the architect and technical support during consent.
- Construction monitoring and adjustment of design as required on site to work with the building services contractor.
