Structural Engineers – experts with airbags?

Our Structural Engineers used Airbags to apply lateral loads to internal masonry walls on a job. This testing method is often used on internal masonry walls and in-filled masonry walls.

The test applies lateral loads to simulate out-of-plane wall loads and is used to accurately determine the out-of-plane capacity of walls. The structural engineers set up the two testing frames on either side of the wall. The larger frame holds the airbag and includes sensors that measure the load applied to the wall.

The smaller frame, on the other side of the wall, holds the sensors that measure the deflection of the wall.
